Selby is a market town that sits on the River Ouse, approximately 12 miles from the city of York. Although it's relatively small compared to its neighbours of York and Leeds, there are some excellent dog walks and plenty of ideas for days out for your family and your pooch to enjoy.
selby abbey
Selby Abbey is a former Benedictine abbey that was founded in 1069. It offers a place to explore Selby's vast history, a gift shop, coffee shop, place of worship and puts on several daily and evening events. The Abbey is also dog friendly so you can enjoy it with your pooch, and it's free to enter! There are also regular tours led by expert tour guides who want to share the heritage and history of the abbey and it's community. The closest parking is available at Abbey Walk car park, Back Micklegate or Selby Park.

berts barrow

Bert's barrow is a family run farm that is primarily used as a wedding venue but they do run excellent family days and events that your four legged friend is welcome to attend too. Keep an eye out on their socials for PYO strawberries, PYO pumpkins, Christmas tree events and summer parties at the weekend. We've attended some of their summer events and there's plenty to do for everyone including cocktail bars for the adults, street food and space for the kids to play. There is plenty of parking but bear in mind it's a working farm so during the colder weather, it can get muddy!

scalm park driving range
Scalm Park Leisure is located near Wistow Common and is a 16 bay flood lit driving range which allows dogs! They have clubs to borrow free of charge and a mixture of adults and children's clubs which means it's the perfect activity for the whole family. Balls are charged at £1 for around 17 balls and there's plenty of on site parking. In addition to the driving range, the also have an 18 hole golf course and a dog friendly club house for those after golf pints.
